About

WHO WE ARE

Colan Barton is a fabulous 373-year-old Estate set privately in 10 acres, only 3 miles from the exciting waves of the Atlantic Ocean and its fabulous beaches including world renowned the Watergate, Fistral and Lusty Glaze.

Our recently renovated Manor House sleeps 14, and is home to many original and stunning features from centuries past, including worn granite floors, ancient beams, cloam ovens and a toe toasting AGA at the heart of the home –  it’s a unique and special place.

Combine the Manor House with our stunning Piggery studios across the court yard, the Estate can offer accommodation for up to 18 guests.

HISTORY

The settlement of Colan was first recorded in 1277. It is believed that preachers once passed through to pay homage at its holy well and Oliver Cromwell is said to have fired shots inside its church.

The farmhouse was built in 1632, just a stroll away from the Norman Church at the heart of the village, and by 1814 Colan Barton formed part of the Figg Hoblyn estate, which it remained part of until we purchased it in 2017. The manor is Grade II listed, and has a range of historical features, including a barn which was recorded in the Domesday Book.

FUTURE

‘If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough’

This is a motto that we have long stood by… our lives to this point have presented us with opportunities which we have become attuned to saying yes to. The chance to move to Cornwall was no different… Colan Barton is our dream.

Being brave enough to breathe new life into such an historic building, we will build a home where our ‘yet to meet guests’ and our loyal customers can create incredible memories and enjoy precious moments together.

It will be an honour, in centuries to come; knowing that we’ve helped create a marker in time which will outlive us all and have one heck of a tale to tell.
