Lusty Glaze is the Sunday Times Best Beach of the Year and definitely deserves the title. It is small but perfectly formed and tucked neatly into the cliff face, sheltered from the wind.

A short drive from Colan, the beach has a fantastic restaurant and a range of activities available on the sand and water. It is also a fairytale wedding venue for anyone who’s dreamed of getting married by the sea, and caters for large and small parties. Colan Barton is perfectly situated to act as accommodation for wedding parties, as it is a short taxi ride from the beach.

Away from the hustle and bustle of Newquay, the wide-open sands and rolling waves of Watergate Bay are truly stunning.

15 minutes from Colan, with ample parking and a beach that goes on for miles at low tide, it is the perfect place to spend a day in the sunshine or for a dramatic blustery walk in the winter months. Watergate Bay offers a number of excellent restaurants (including Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen) and the “Extreme Academy”, which runs daily surf lessons as well as other thrill seeking activities.

The Eden Project is famous across the world for its incredible Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes and is a must see destination for all visitors to Cornwall.

30 minutes drive from Colan Barton, The Eden Project is a fascinating day out, giving you the opportunity to walk through the world’s largest greenhouse then travel to California and South Africa and explore the olive groves and citrus trees growing in the Mediterranean Biome. There is also an additional 30 acres to explore outside and seasonal entertainment including ice-skating, concerts, and educational exhibitions.
